Mixing Fertilizers and Manures |
It can be dangerous to mix some fertilizers or manures together because mixing them will cause a dangerous chemical reaction to take place. You should never mix lime with either farmyard manure or with guano. Basic slag should never be combined with guano or ammonium sulfate. It would be dangerous to mix sodium nitrate with Kainit or with superphosphate. There are, however, manures and fertilizers that can be mixed together safely. Basic slag may be mixed with sodium nitrate, with bones and with Kainit. It is also safe to mix bones with sodium nitrate and with ammonium sulfate. Ammonium sulfate may be combined with superphosphate. You can combine phosphatic guanos with ammonium sulfate or sodium nitrate, and you can mix fish guano with any mineral fertilizer.
